In the heat of a moment when you lost your way And the future looks broken but there's no other way Through the sinking light of day And the people around you say, "Come what may." And they sing Hallelujah and seize the day The time just flies away I was right where you are now I was right where you are I was right where you are now You're making them nervous You don't say enough And your constant observing you might see too much If they can't read your mind, you're done So just sit on your fingers and breathe in a bag Just take what they give you and don't react And when the bomb goes off, relax I was right where you are now I was right where you are I was right where you are now Let me tell you my secret: This is not the end I've been where you are and I'll be back again There will always be somebody here to listen I was right where you are now I was right where you are I was right where you are now

The heart is all that's left One thing still to protect She's whispering, "just how close can I get?" One word and I give up One kiss and that's enough The door's unlocked, take anything you want I step to the edge; You know what I see? All that I missed in the 90s Nothing is quite what it seems Wake me from this falling dream 'Cause I know how it ends between you and me Gravity wins and I'm history Nothing is quite what it seems Wake me from this falling dream I circled it twice now I know how it works The good ones get better and the bad ones get worse The more I ignore it the deeper it hurts Keep my head in the clouds and my hands in the dirt Can we just start over again? Give me a chance to resist You be the trophy and I'll be the hunter instead I step to the edge; You know what I see? All that I missed in the 90s Nothing is quite what it seems Wake me from this falling dream 'Cause I know how it ends between you and me Gravity wins and I'm history Nothing is quite what it seems Wake me from this falling dream I know how it ends - know how it ends I step to the edge; You know what I see? All that I missed in the 90s Nothing is quite what it seems Wake me from this falling dream Yeah- you wanna know how it ends? Predictably. The good guy wins, and it's not me Nothing is quite what it seems Wake me from this falling dream

Piece of Me 03:25
While you look for how to leave, I'll be trying to stay 'Cause I keep falling more in love while you're walking away Moving on, rising up, Good for you and bad for us Gloves are off, knives are out And I can't get enough Tell the truth, tell a lie, Cross your heart and hope to die I'll forgive you every time Can you see it in my eyes? I love everything that you do Will you love a piece of me too? I love everything that you do Will you love a piece of my heart when it breaks it two? Half of me was always meant for you You get better every day, and I just stay the same Moving on, rising up, Good for you and bad for us Gloves are off, knives are out And I can't get enough Tell the truth, tell a lie, Cross your heart and hope to die I'll forgive you every time Can you see it in my eyes? It's yours to decide If you wanted to If you want it It doesn't matter what you put me through I love everything that you do I love everything that you do Will you love a piece of me too?

Cover it up, block the sun Sweep my hopes and dreams under the rug Because there are things I knew for sure In tiny pieces all over the floor It's what you do when I try to ignore Who the drone is and who's in control Here's what I've got, use it up The hand doesn't care what the hammer wants It's my head against the wall Before I start to understand at all It's what you do when I try to ignore Who's in love and who just plays along I will never understand what you want with me But I can never love again until you leave I changed your name into silence Sleep to dream, and peace to violence My ball and chain on a shrinking island The water's rising, there's not much time left It's what you do when I try to decide if Leaving you is a thing that's worth trying I will never understand what you want with me But I can never love again until you leave How long can I pretend that this is working like I planned it? I can never love again until you leave

First in line when you announce the tour Last one out behind a slamming door I'll be right here, waiting Seen everything you've done, and everything you'll do Face the apocalypse with my eyes on you I'll be right here waiting Right here, waiting For you You've got the birth of a star waiting on your lips And the end of the world at your fingertips and I'm be right here, waiting Show me your perfect world, the one you're dreaming of Where you wanna end up is where I wanna end up I'm right here, waiting Right here, waiting For you, for you Tell me what you want The world isn't enough Tell me what I need to know Tell me what you want from me Tell me where you want to go, Oh you know where I'll be Right here, waiting

Younger Man 04:00
Held the weight of the world in the palm of my hand And pass it around with my childhood friends It's a freedom that I'm tired of remembering When I wore the skin of a younger man I didn't give a fuck about the world's demands Or how I fit in to someone else's plans It's a freedom that I'm tired of remembering When I wore the skin of a younger man Oo- it's the same as it's ever been Yeah - the timing is everything Oo- it's the same as it ever was Yeah- it's hilarious Everyone I meet knows what the answer is But they're all talking at once, I can't make sense of it I really can't believe I wasn't listening When I wore the skin of a younger man Oo- it's the same as it's ever been Yeah - the timing is everything Oo- it's the same as it ever was Yeah- it's hilarious I'm trying to find my way back to that dream again With flowers blooming from my skeleton It's forgotten just as soon as I remember it When I wore the skin of a younger man That body isn't ever coming back again All that's left is to find one to suffer with Skipping hand-in-hand into oblivion And I don't think we're ever coming back again We'll never wear the skin of a younger man Oo- it's the same as it's ever been Yeah - the timing is everything Oo- it's the same as it ever was Yeah- it's hilarious

about

I tried to quit making music.

I thought it was driving me crazy. I put down the guitar and the paper and the pen, packed up the synths and drum machines, and broke the news to my close friends and family. And for a while, things did get a little easier - or at least more simple. I wasn't responsible for anyone else's schedules, preferences, listening habits, practice habits, drinking habits, or ideas about the music business anymore. It felt like being on a beautiful beach vacation.

But you can't live on vacation; the heat gets unbearable, there's sand in all your shoes, and eventually you just want to eat a fucking salad. But mostly you miss that feeling. That buzz that comes from working on something that could be great, or just something that could help someone - the way the tireless work of others has reached down and helped you so many times in the past. So after a few months of not having that "good idea" high, I relapsed. But this time I would do it by myself, and for myself: all the words and chords that make me happy to have written, and nothing else.

So that's what Where You Are Now represents for me today. On one hand it's a return to simplicity: one man, some microphones, and some rapidly-evaporating free time. On the other hand it's a return to complexity: all the juicy harmonies and rhythms that forged my unbreakable bond with music in the first place. All selfishness aside, I truly hope you find this recording and love the hell out of it.

Sincerely,
Your student, servant, and sidekick in music,
-Erik Severinson
